The Attention Strategy
If you are a poor, unpopular person like myself, have a big idea in a vast population, and need immediate national attention to launch that idea off the ground with popular support, the attention strategy is the most efficient way I know how to do that.
As far as I can tell, there are artificial barriers that actually separate poor people from rich people to prevent communication and information exchange. There seems to be a lingering malignant social disease of bourgeois inequality in the USA. In other words, rich people are at times under the delusion that they are fundamentally different natured human creatures than poor people and thus believe they need to maintain some sort of inimical separation from the rest of humanity to protect themselves. I’m not going to address that now beyond stating how obviously incorrect such a concept is aside from a single rhetorical metaphor: is a person who pilots a massive, cargo-laden supertanker fundamentally different natured than a person who pilots a small schooner for day-sailing?
I’ll admit, there is something cool and novel about piloting a big ship like the super-tanker in the example, but that does not mean a person who does that is “superhuman”! A pleasure like that is about as childish and pure as they come, but the only difference is a skill set of knowledge that any human could acquire, and knowledge that is similar to both types of crafts.
“Why the hell would you go through the effort of qualifying to pilot a submarine?” I was occasionally asked when ending my enlistment as a junior sailor. “Well… tbh I’m going to get out of the Navy after this tour and if I have the chance to drive a submarine through the ocean, even if only for a few minutes, I want to do it, because that sounds pretty cool if you ask me, and I’ll probably never have the chance to do so again.” Carpe diem, as they say. What pilot, helmsman, navigator, or officer of the deck doesn’t feel a little smug when they park the ship at the pier? Come on now. There is nothing wrong with that, and being a mega-popular idol or celebrity is not so different other than the type of vehicle that is used.
In any event, a poor person who has hence been unknown can draw the attention of a rich and popular person, and then when that rich and popular person shifts their attention to that poor person, everyone else who is watching that rich person will see the poor person in light of the popular one. This is normal, healthy, and good. In fact, if a rich and popular person goes to great efforts to attempt to “kill”, “off”, or suppress that poor person to prevent shifting their attention to them in public, there is nothing better in the interest of the poor person that could happen, because they will gain all the power and popularity the rich and popular person had. That is easier understood than explained, but it is what pop stars usually fear about losing their “look”. They rich and popular person loses all credibility in the eyes of the person they are attempting to suppress, who then knows himself vastly superior to that person, and the power is shifted almost immediately. Such suppression is obscenely dishonorable, cowardly, and evil, which is why the rich and popular person loses everything by such a pathetic and arrogant attempt of controlling popular information.
I suppose they would only feel inclined to suppress a person of a poor and previously unknown status because they are in fact doing something wrong and that person is exposing them. Otherwise they should have no problem simply answering that poor person and addressing whatever the concern is immediately with the appropriate words for the situation. That can happen to raise the public awareness of an idea but is not a guaranteed change of fortune for a poor person unless they end up in a battle of will against the rich person who has been unlawfully and illegally attempting to suppress that person.
So, that’s one thing that should be happening a lot in a nation, because I am sure a lot of people have ideas and things to say that are being ignored by the tyrants who have are strangling mass media with their propaganda and ownership. It shouldn’t be a problem. Many cases will be able to be resolved by something the popular person is aware of that the previously unidentified person in public does not know, but at times there will be a good idea, and the popularity for that new idea will bring it to fruition for its goodness, and that will be good for everyone. As long as the legal system maintains normal law and order, and is never in any way like the USA’s lawless and corrupt system, there should never be a problem of unsavory criminals and illegitimate businessmen gaining economic and social power illegally to harm everyone else with their abject stupidity.
