Surely the development of modern video game making software was a very a laborious, complicated, and difficult endeavor requiring skill, ingenuity, and talent, and that will always be required to continue to develop better and better software. But once the software is created… doesn’t that vastly simplify the video game development process?
How many people does it really take to make a video game with graphics on par with the best? Maybe not the best, but still up there reasonably close. I don’t want to sound insensitive, but I find it unusual in a bad way that there are a lot of games being made with graphics that are what you would expect in the 90s or early 2k. That is something that disturbs my early warning evil detection senses. Why are you coveting that software and preventing people from having access to it?
Do you not have enough money already? You have to deny other people the ability to enjoy the goodness of software to lord over it like some tyrant trying to create a miniature “Hunger Games” scenario inside your part of the media industry? As good as advanced computer software has potential for being, the reality is that in this day and age, it is only used for evil. The developers and owners who have acquired it are attempting to control people’s lives with it, manipulate the economy in the ways that are criminal by other means, and refuse to allow it to be of the most good by withholding it from others.
You should be ashamed of yourselves. Go do something useful with your lives instead of scheming ways to cheat people and make the world a worse place because you are denying creators the tools to increase happiness. It is not unusual for all forms of artists to be poor and not have the resources to make the most of their talent, but why are you abusing that? You should be making things more accessible, not so you can selectively choose people for some sort of misguided delusion of megalomania you have.
Your methods of selectively choosing creators who will serve your private interests only accomplish developing mediocre and poor quality content. I don’t really know how this is going to play out, but I imagine the hundreds of millions of people who live in the USA are going to run out of patience for the garbage media we are getting from tyrants like you, and revolt against you somehow. The backlash is going to crack down on your industry excessively severe because of the kind of harm and abuse you have been doing, and you will have to work, wait, and struggle to get some of those restrictions, limitations, and regulations loosened.
You people who make mistakes like that should already know that is what happens when you find a way to do evil that is not specifically outlined in the law and thus you think you can get away with it. It’s obviously evil, doing harm, and that harm is the reason why the response is going to be so severe against you. If you had any common sense you would be trying to not screw over your customers, who have the power over the government, who has the power over you. You would want to make a profit, a decent amount, but always be concerned about not screwing people over because of how much you should fear what will happen to you if you do.
So… how about you start sharing your resources out to more people, independent creators, and competitors so they can actually compete with you. You are only embarrassing yourselves by strangling out competition because of your lack of confidence and ability to keep up with the work of others. That’s probably because you haven’t ever actually created anything good, and only rode the coat tails of more talented people who you forced out like brutes, which is why you can’t keep up now. When you have so much resources to make an amazing game, but it is low quality because of the shit inspiration and directing, that is much more unpleasant than the problems themselves pose in the game.
All artists, media companies, creators, and content developers should be encouraging each other and never feel threatened by competition. You should want everyone to do their best work, because when an artist does their best work it is inspiring, not just for the non-artist audience, but also for other artists who can admire it, and work with the inspiration to create something else that is inspiring, and on and on it goes and everyone is having a good time and enjoying all the amazing works that are available. People won’t just be waiting for one or two games to come out each time, there will be more games than one could play of comparable quality being released at any time. That will create a sub-industry of critics, reviewers, and sub-cultures that will respond with other forms of creation, like merchandise and more.
Then all that diversity will be able to be used by the “mixers” as I described before elsewhere. The “DJ’s” of creative content, who take one thing and another thing, blend them, modify, and create something entirely new by using preexisting works. That is good stuff and we want more of it. All that diversity and mixing happening together is also how occasionally a revolutionary concept will arise and totally change the environment.
I know you want to get as rich and powerful as possible, and that is not necessarily a problem. It can be a very good thing. But it is a problem now and here is why: all those millions and billions of dollars you are hoarding up at the top? You do not need that much money while a great amount of other people do. That is why it is a problem. If everything is good, people are taken care of, and there is a generally charitable and benevolent economy working for everyone’s good, then it won’t be a problem if you just happen to rake in the dough year after year and have more than you know what to do with. But these days… not okay. You need to share the wealth with everyone else. You have more than enough to do that without even changing your own quality of life.
The basic ingredient of economic success is having a solid understanding of “quality of life” as a concept. What makes life good? Running water? Fast internet? A comfy sofa? Having various technology for personal amusement? Having scented soap? Comfortable clothes? Stylish clothes? Makeup that works the best? Food that tastes the best? You get the idea. Take into account things like that, the relative costs of acquiring those things, and make as much of that available as possible. There still will be high priced goods that are inaccessible to most people, but the idea is to provide the good those do, as efficiently as possible at the most accessible level.
Sometimes I get the sense that there are people out there who think that they enjoy things more if more people do not have them. That is sadly untrue. It works the opposite. The more people enjoying something, the more enjoyable it is. For whatever reason, sometimes it becomes important to us to be different from other people. We want to stand out from the crowd, be noticed, maybe by someone particular who you know without knowing as your soul mate but are lost in a crowd of people and generally indistinguishable. Then you may want to do something different, but if more people are enjoying something because it is available, it will be easier for people to do that.
You can show off your unique taste, explain in sophisticated ways why your taste is good in whatever it is, and as it is said: “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” That is not only an individual experience, because that affects other people. What you see as beauty may suddenly be recognized as beauty by others, and well… that doesn’t sound so bad, especially if you are the one with good taste to point it out, because people will be grateful that there is more goodness to enjoy than there was before. Just another reason why you want a very diverse market; you want your competitors to be the best so they can bring the best out of you, and everything will be more enjoyable, especially the rivalries between competitors as it concerns developers.
If you are doing art, you shouldn’t be doing it just to make money anyway. That is important, we want to be paid so we can do more creative works and still provide for our needs, but ultimately that kind of work is about bringing happiness to the audience in all forms, even the most bizarre and horrific ones that most people do not understand like you do. I guess what I’m trying to say is that… the game developers are not behaving like artists, and it is toxic to their work, products, and whoever is trying to operate the video game industry as a consumer product of utility or commodity is undermining their own capital because that is not why we enjoy such things.
There is a utility to it in relieving stress and enjoyment, but that is only half of the equation. The other half is a mysterious power of ultimate goodness that fills our lives with unending joy, even when we are not engaging with the media itself. That is the true power above all other powers, and you cannot control it, predict it, manipulate it, or abuse it and still be able to access it. That kind of corruption is a betrayal of the most offensive kind to the people who enjoy it and are affected. It is a worse betrayal than that of a national government that betrays the people it is supposed to care for.
So, maybe rethink how you all are doing things in the video game industry before I have to look into it personally if it doesn’t improve back to the way it should naturally be without needing to make any efforts other than those concerned with creating new and good works. Businessmen and businesswomen should be helpful to the artists, not be trying to enslave them, dominate them, control them, force them to produce, or any other evil thing! They should have the highest respect for the artist’s interests, because that is how they make money too. Neither of them will get paid if the artist’s interests are being trampled by greed, corruption, and bad behavior.
Do not mistake the artist for the source of the ultimate power above all others, but do not be mistaken that they do in fact have access to it, mastery of its use to an extent, and may invoke it at will. That is not the kind of enemy you want to have. No arsenal of warheads, death machines, or international supervillains are going to be enough to stop a single artist who takes up the brush, pen, guitar, camera, voice, or anything else and wields it against them with the true ultimate power inspiring them. Fear first, then love.
That’s it! That is the natural order of life, the universe, and everything: Fear first, and then love. If you are ever at an impasse in a matter of legal concern, policy, or anything else, remember that order of priority. The concern of fear is first priority, and the interest of love second. Love is patient, kind, merciful, and waits. There will be no problem with Love if Death is served first when he jumps the line. Death doesn’t wait at all, so it’s probably important anyway. Besides, those who truly love have already confronted their greatest fears, and if Death is ahead of us then we still have time left for one more kiss.
Love is also eager, so if you are taking too long serving Death because he’s old and hasn’t been keeping up with the times so you have to explain all the forms to him… don’t be surprised if Love helps everything move a little faster in some surprising ways with a miracle or three just to get Death on his way. That’s for everyone’s good, because Death kills the mood too. That’s an unfortunate consequence of Death’s untimely arrival and can’t be helped, so don’t hold it against him. On the bright side, if Death is happy, then he’ll resurrect the mood on the way out, because even Death likes to dance when there’s an occasion for it, especially if Mrs. Bones is there too.
